Trampoline park to shut

- Stephanie Mitchell

Another of Taranaki’s play centres is closing.

Air-Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in New Plymouth has decided to shut up shop after less than four years in business.

In a public Facebook post on Monday, Craig and Grace Huffam, who opened the site in October 2015, wrote, ‘‘Public Notice: AIR ZONE IS CLOSING. Our last day of trade is the 9th December 2018. Thanks to all those who supported us.’’

When contacted, the couple did not wish to comment further.

The post gained more than 100 comments with people devastated to see it close.

‘‘All the fun places for our kids are closing down!!!’’ Jessica Williams indoor wrote.

‘‘That’s very sad for New Plymouth! You guys have a great facility and run it so well. You will be missed but thanks for all you’ve done over the time you’ve been open,’’ Jessie O’Connor wrote.

The announcement comes one month after Rumpus Room, another New Plymouth children’s play centre, closed its doors.

When Rumpus Room closed, founder Helen Griffiths said it was because she needed a break.

‘‘I’ve created a bit of a monster, and this monster is consuming so I just felt I needed to stop. There comes a point where my health and my own wellbeing is paramount,’’ she said.

New Plymouth also once had a Lollipops Playland and Chipmunks but both have closed.
