Wrong messenger

-

Jim Tucker is bang on re Mt Messenger being a waste of taxpayer dollars.

We travel this road frequently and it takes 5-7 minutes to ascend and descend this ‘terrible’ North Taranaki barrier. We’ve never seen an accident there and never been stopped by slips or any other catastrophes on it. Yes, you do have to travel carefully and sometimes even slowly. There is nothing too wrong about that.

It would do all of us good to slow down whilst driving. I consider it an ‘over the top’ waste of the taxpayers’ money to replace it with a road and tunnel through beautiful natural bush and wildlife habitat.

This is just so huge trucks and trailers can speed along bringing in vast amounts of plastic rubbish that eventually ends up in our tips or being offloaded at the hospice shops.

especially trucks.

Truck companies want taxpayers to pay for their trucks to travel on roads – socialism for the capitalists. Most trucking loads should be on rail tracks, in my opinion. Like Jim Tucker, I would love to see the accident figures for this piece of road. Let’s hold off on messing up our bush for fast roads for petrolheads.
