Another hysterical plan

Replying to Mike Anderson’s fishing plea (TDN, October 4), I entirely disagree. The the estimated number of Ma¯ ui’s dolphins is in single figures and to me that is as near to extinction as possible without finding and breeding in captivity. Why place even more bans on the few remaining fishermen in Taranaki for some spurious reason that will never work? The fishermen do everything possible now and don’t catch any dolphins now. It’s just another hysterical plan people have jumped on.
