Delivereasy comes to New Plymouth
A new food delivery service is set to launch in New Plymouth, with a range of cuisines on offer to be dropped off at your front door.
Delivereasy will be available in the city from today, with about 20 drivers recruited to become a very different type of meals on wheels.
Food will be able to delivered within the New Plymouth city limits and out to Bell Block, with the service available from 10am to
10pm, seven days a week. Director Nick Foster said about
17 restaurants were participating in the service, including Little Glutton, Ms White, India Today and Laughing Buddha.
Foster said the reception from restaurateurs had been good.
‘‘New Plymouth has been particularly friendly and welcoming and open to having a service like this.’’
New Plymouth will be the ninth city the food delivery service operates from, after it first launched in Wellington in 2016.
Foster said the city was chosen as the service would be the first of its kind here, along with other factors including having a range of good restaurants, the size of the city and the ease in which it can be navigated in a timely fashion.
‘‘If we can be viable in the small cities, why would we not go?’’
Foster said while the hope was to build the business up to dealing with 200 orders a day, he was focused on getting the basics right first and making sure it provided a good service from the get-go.
He said the team was committed to providing a food delivery service in the city and hoped it would ‘‘become a bit of a staple’’ in New Plymouth.
While starting with a pool of 20 drivers, he expected that number to grow over time.
Those already signed up to work for the food delivery service include students, sole parents and people looking for a secondary income, Foster said.
Customers can download the Delivereasy app, which is available on Apple and Android, or order via the website. Once the food is ordered and paid for, a delivery time will also be given.
Within the New Plymouth city limits the cost of delivery is $6.99, while a drop-off to Bell Block is $9.99.
Delivereasy’s arrival in New Plymouth follows that of Uber, the international ride-sharing service, which became available in the city in October.
Uber also offers a food delivery service, called Uber Eats. However, in August the company’s New Zealand manager said there were no plans to bring Uber Eats to New Plymouth.
