Big blaze in Inglewood hay shed
An Inglewood hay shed went up in flames yesterday afternoon, cutting power to almost
200 properties.
The shed was ‘‘fully involved’’ when firefighters arrived about
12.10pm, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said. Upper Dudley Rd was closed and power lines came down as a result of the blaze.
Power was cut to 195 properties shortly after midday.
Powerco Network Operations manager Karen Frew said crews were called to isolate supply to the site. ‘‘Crews won’t be able to begin repairs until fire services complete dampening down the shed.’’ Police were making inquiries into the cause of the fire.
