Two Taranaki kapa haka groups will perform at nationals

Four Taranaki ro¯pu¯ showed off their skills at a non-competitiv­e kapa haka event in Whanganui over the weekend.

Haka Tu¯, Haka Ora saw Tu¯tu¯ Ka¯’Ika, Nga¯ Purapura o te Taihaua¯uru, Nga¯ Waihotanga and Aotea U¯ tanganui hit the stage at a packed Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

While the Ma¯ori performing arts event was non-competitiv­e, four of the ro¯pu¯ performing on the day will represent the Aotea region at Te Matatini Herenga Waka, Herenga Tangata, the national kapa haka competitio­n being held in Auckland, in February 2022.

Nga¯ Purapura o te Taihaua¯uru, led by Tamzyn Pue, and Aotea U¯ tanganui will also take part.
