Covid case now in ICU

-

A Covid-19 patient in an Auckland hospital has been transferred to the intensive care unit.

The positive case is one of two people with the virus who are being treated at Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland. It was not clear when the patient was transferred.

Yesterday, the case detail page on the Ministry of Health website showed one person was in hospital, but not in ICU, and one person was in the hospital’s ICU.

The Ministry of Health had announced on Friday two people with the virus were in hospital in Auckland. One had pneumonia, secondary to their Covid-19. Both were transferred to Middlemore Hospital from managed isolation, one last Thursday and the other last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there is one new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation and no new cases in the community. There has been no community transmission for 107 days.
