Desotos to play in NP

- Federico Magrin

After eight years, The Desotos are bringing their Americana flair back to New Plymouth.

The band will light up the 4th Wall Theatre tomorrow night, lead singer Paul Gurney said.

New Plymouth will be the third stop of a one-month North Island tour that will see the Auckland-based four-piece head from Taranaki to play in Wellington, Carterton, Palmerston North and Leigh.

Gurney said the band were glad to come back because they had a great reception at The Festival of Lights in 2014.

The Desotos are an old-fashioned blues and country rock group of musicians. Alongside Gurney, Stuart Mcintyre plays the bass, Ron Stevens the Hammond organ, keyboards, and acoustic guitar, and Bryan Harris the drums. The 4th Wall Theatre will show the true tone of the band with its dimmed lights and ‘‘good quality of the sound’’, Gurney said.

The Desotos will play at the 4th Wall Theatre tomorrow from 7.30pm.
