Stormwater works on SH3 at Waitara set to finish

-

Stormwater works on State Highway 3 near Waitara will be completed this week, paving the way for the start of construction on the Princess St roundabout and pedestrian underpass early next year. Waka Kotahi regional manager for infrastructure delivery Rob Partridge said that with the 950-metre pipe now installed along SH3, work to seal and reinstate the road to two lanes would start today. This work is expected to take four to five days to complete, weather dependent, and people should plan for delays of up to 10 minutes. The new pipe will carry stormwater runoff from the Princess St roundabout when it is built and will also help to address flooding issues around Princess and Rahiri streets.
