What’s on over Easter and beyond

A list of some of the events on around Taranaki this Easter holiday period.

Taranaki Country Music Festival, Waitara War Memorial Hall, Saturday and Sunday.

Two-day Easter music bash. Come and have fun, get up and sing and dance if you want to. Open mic with invited artists and top showcase artists. Lots of room for motorhome parking.

Oakura Easter Hunt, Ringcraft Moana Jewellers, 109 Surrey Hill Rd, Saturday, 10am-3pm.

On Saturday at 10am we will release all the clues on our Facebook event page to help you narrow down your search radius. You are hunting for a 5cm silver egg that is the key to our Easter nest held at Ringcraft Moana Jewellers. No egg, no basket. The egg will be hidden somewhere in a public space in Oakura, so no climbing, digging, or trespassin­g necessary. But be early as we have our keen local hunters out there.

Easter Painting with Pinot & Picasso, at Centre City New Plymouth, various dates

Come along for some creative fun with the family or drop off your kids and get your shopping done while they make an Easter painting. Each guided painting session lasts two hours and includes all painting materials and a painting to take home, a gift bag filled with goodies, and two hours of free parking at Centre City. Tickets are $39.00 per person and available from www.pinotandpi­casso.nz/ taranaki. Five sessions between Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1.

Easter at The Pickers Market, Ferndale Hall, 291 Frankley Rd, New Plymouth, Sunday, 10am-2pm

Easter Sunday special event with live music, lawn games, food trucks, Easter treats and an array of local creatives selling both second-hand and handmade goods. From 10.30-11.30am. Find our long-eared friend for an Easter treat.

Daughter + 'Dad' Have a Go Session, Fitzroy Golf Club, New Plymouth, Tuesday, April 2, 4-6pm

The Taranaki Good Sports Group are hosting friendly and non-competitiv­e taster sessions for what used to be the 'blokey' sports of golf, volleyball and rugby for daughters and ‘dads’. You will need one kid (11-15) and one adult to take part. Adults could be a dad, an uncle, a brother, cousin or grandparen­t. A free barbecue and spot prizes are being provided.

“Passed/past” with Andrew Leo Stansbury, at MIGHT COULD Art Project Space, Ngāmotu.

MIGHT COULD announces the return of photograph­er, performer and ceramicist, Andrew Leo Stansbury (b. 1986, Texas). Stansbury explores memory and mourning through photograph­s, objects and looped audio and video. Curated by Jennifer Halli. MIGHT COULD: 36 Currie St. Ngāmotu New Plymouth. Saturday and Sunday 10am-1pm through to April 28. Free.

Board Games@bell Block, Northpoint Church Hall, 116 Mangati Rd, Thursday, April 4, 7-9pm

Calling all board game enthusiast­s. Gather your friends and family, of all ages, for a fun evening playing modern board games. Entry is free and hot drinks and biscuits are supplied.
