Taranaki Airs v Franklin Bulls TSB Stadium, tomorrow, tip-off 4pm; Rapid league 3pm

Support the Taranaki Airs and help protect the peak. Children under the age of 14 are required to be accompanie­d by an adult at all times and there are no passouts for this event. Get your tickets from Ticketek or at the door of TSB Stadium.

Taranaki Jazz Club Plymouth Internatio­nal Hotel, Sunday, 4.30pm

The Ritz Big Band, an 18-piece orchestra playing classics from the 1930s and 40s, plus some rock and funk, and some vocals. Doors open 3.45pm; eftpos/cash, casual $30, members $20, NP Club $25, students $10. Cabaret tables, dance floor, bar, table snack menu.

Handson Garden Tool Sharpening Workshop Hawera Observator­y, Wednesday, May 8, 9.45am

Friends of Hāwera Parks, along with David Bruce, are holding a Hands-on Small Garden Tool Workshop. Bring along your favourite hand tool – maybe your secateurs or spade – and have a go. All welcome.

Lunchtime Concert Methodist Centre, Wednesday, May 8, 12.15pm

The winter series of lunchtime concerts commence again, this Wednesday. The first concert features La Mer, a group of well-known local musicians who specialise in European music from French cafe style to Gypsy swing. They have played at a number of music festivals, as well as charity performanc­es. This group consists of Aaron Busch (piano accordion), Bernie Schmid (acoustic guitar), Malcolm Alder (double bass), Helen Griffiths (violin) and Dominique Blatti (vocals, classical guitar). Bring your lunch and enjoy some toe tapping music. Koha appreciate­d.

1999 The Ultimate Prince Experience TSB Showplace, Thursday, May 9, 8pm

Paying tribute to the phenomenal Prince himself is the multi-talented South African performer Dale Ray, who will be backed by an eight-piece powerhouse band. Get tickets to this show from Ticketek or from the door at TSB Theatre.
