Maybe last chance to join Stars In Their Thighs

- By KIRSTY LAWRENCE

Hitting the stage and busting out moves is something many people dream of doing, but lack of vocal talent can hold performers back.

However, the Taupo Primary School PTA bi-annual fundraiser Stars in Their Thighs is perfect for those performers who like the glitz and glamour, but might not be able to back it up with actual talent.

You can lip sync, dance, do whatever tickles your fancy on the stage as long as it is entertaining, all in the name of raising funds for Taupo Primary School.

One of the organisers Nicky Brasell said they were excited to be organising the event again and since this was her last year organising the event she was calling for all entries from the past and those who don’t want to miss out in the future to throw their hats in the ring.

‘‘We do it so we can raise funds for the school.’’

She said the PTA had a number of areas around the school they wanted to improve and plans to improve the area outside room eight and nine were on the agenda.

Brasell said they had great success with the fundraiser in the past but what they needed to make it the success it had always been was more acts to step up.

‘‘We need to recruit acts . . . it’s not all about you, it’s a fun environment with hilarity and entertainment.

‘‘People don’t realise how fun it is. If I had known how much fun it was at the beginning I would have been doing it four years ago.’’

The event was free to enter and the Taupo Primary PTA could even help with costumes. All you needed to do was get your group together and get rehearsing.

The event will be held on September 11 and Brasell said they wanted groups to register as soon as possible at the Taupo Primary School office. Last time Stars in Their Thighs was held Oh No Speedos Go was a great hit, gaining some air during a jump off a treadmill during their choreographed performance. This year the Taupo Primary School PTA is calling for entries to dust off their boots and get ready to get back on stage.
