Music day at Waipahihi reserve
Local Taupo¯ musicians and choral groups will play and sing from 11am to 2pm on Sunday March 12 in the Memorial Area of the Waipahihi Botanical Reserve.
You’ll find it at the top of Shepherd Rd. Park on the road outside the gate or inside by the clubhouse. There is some parking on the roadside in the Reserve, but it is limited.
The music suits all ages — a bit of unaccompanied singing, a bit of classical and a bit of big band. From about 1pm join the Whoopee Band in a fun singalong.
Kids Greening Taupo¯ in conjunction with the Department of Conservation will also launch an event series for young children and their families, including seeing nocturnal animals and birds in a darkness tent, watching insects which live in rivers, making artworks from nature’s bits and pieces, taking time out to read nature books in a colourful, felted yurt.
Bring a picnic but you will be able to fill the gaps from a sausage sizzle run by Hilltop School, and Mr Whippy. For those who need a moment of peace, there will be coffee truck at the Flax Lookout.
Come one, come all!
