Lots on for Labour Weekend

-

Labour Weekend is market time in the Taupo¯ district, and this weekend there are three markets around the great lake plus a fair to choose from.

On Saturday, at the southern end of the lake you can find the Omori Kuratau community’s Labour Day Market on at the Omori Kuratau Community Hall from 9am to noon. There will be stalls selling art, food, homemade baking, jewellery, calendars, toys, raffles and more.

The Taupo¯ Market will also be running on Saturday at the Riverside Park in Taupo¯ from 9am to 1pm or 2pm selling an array of fresh food, local produce, crafts and merchandise.

On Sunday October 21 the popular Kinloch Market will be held on the Kinloch Domain from 8am until 3pm. The market, now in its 17th year, features more than 250 stalls and car boot sales with everything from furniture to pottery and always attracts a big crowd. There will be 30 different food stalls alone. Stall fees are donated to a local charity and this year’s beneficiary is a Taupo¯ community organisation.

Local charities and volunteer groups are welcome to have stalls.

The Original Gypsy Fair will also be in town, setting up on the Tongariro Domain during Labour Weekend. The fair is open daily from 10am to 5pm and sells a variety of handcrafted and upcycled products.
