TriSport’s season starts

- —

Ages 6 to 72 hit the pavements last Monday night on a wonderful calm Taupo¯ evening to kick off TriSport Taupo¯’s new season.

With over 30 participants running (1km or 1.5km), riding (10km) and then running again (1km or 1.5km) on the historic AC Baths /Broadlands duathlon course, it was a stellar night for a race and a sausage sizzle.

Highly commended goes to long course winner Ben Raven, followed swiftly by Nathan Toma and Ivan Abele. Sue Mavor took out the women’s in great form. The short course winner (men’s) was Callum Pettman with Meile-Rose Green, Lily Raven and Aniek Lenoir in the top spots for short course ladies. Top teams were Team Webber and Team RavenWoodward. Special thanks to Ian Carppe for his support around the bike course.

The race was followed by a sausage sizzle and prize giving. Top Gear Cycles did a wonderful job of the spot prizes and will be around at each race over the summer season. The next race will be the Monday after Labour Day (race day October 29) at the AC Baths. 5.30pm registration (free to race) and 6pm kickoff. Check out more on our Facebook page.
