Now working in the UN
Former Taupō-nui-a-tia College student Craig Hawke has been appointed to a senior role in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Mr Hawke, who was at the school in the early 1980s, was appointed as a permanent representative to the New Zealand permanent mission to the United Nations in New York last August.
Mr Hawke had worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade since 1989, including as acting chief executive and deputy secretary, international development and head of the New Zealand development and humanitarian programme. His role now is to lead New Zealand’s ongoing efforts to help make the United Nations more effective and relevant, including the small states and those in the Pacific.
