Students dead in Ohakuri crash named

Police have released the names of the two people who died following the crash on SH1 at Ohakuri, south of Tokoroa on Monday October 29.

They were 22-year-old Bikramjit Singh and 21-yearold Mukul Jaglan from Auckland. Both were Indian nationals studying in New Zealand. The third person in the vehicle was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.

The two people in the second vehicle involved received minor injuries.

Taupo Area Road Policing Group Senior Sergeant Fane Troy says the Serious Crash Unit investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

“It is too early to say what caused this tragedy but all aspects will be looked into.” Police remind drivers to be aware of their surroundings and drive to the conditions.
