Pianist to perform in Taupo¯
One of New Zealand’s leading concert pianists Ludwig Treviranus will present Fantasy: An exploration of harmony and narrative through music at a recital at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday December 9 at 2.30pm.
Ludwig gained a Master’s degree in music at Auckland University, then a Doctorate at Florida State University. He was successful in numerous competitions in the USA including the Beethoven International Piano Sonata Competition in Memphis, Tennessee (2009), and the Florida State Music School Chopin Competition (2010). He has given recitals in the USA, Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, and is in demand as a collaborative artist, ensemble player, soloist and adjudicator, as well as for master classes.
In Wellington, Ludwig taught piano at the New Zealand School of Music, then from 2014 to 2017 was pianist in residence for Chamber Music Hutt Valley, giving concerts in the region. He now teaches piano at the Albany School of Music which is affiliated with Auckland University.
Among many collaborative achievements, Ludwig recorded a double CD for the book Living Echoes: The First 150 Years of Music From New Zealand.
Ludwig’s Taupo¯ concert will comprise works by JS Bach, CPE Bach, Scriabin and Liszt.
