Some 47 vet golfers reported for golf on Tauhara on Wednesday, November 28 despite doubtful weather forecast and were rewarded with dry and warm conditions. Five senior vets/9 holers completed a stableford comp on front 9 of Tauhara with Graham Downes, Dermot Grainger, John Mather and David Mayne. Another 42 vets competed in a par round on Tauhara with the winner Geoff Burton scoring +7 par. Runners-up with +6 were John Jacobs and Lou McCauley. Four with +4 were Dave Nixon, Les Wraight , Tim Paterson and Graham Woodcock. +3 for Rex Mathieson and Dennis Tito. +2 for Eddie Hawke, Tony Rutledge, Dick Fraser, Richard Brooker, Ralph Robertshawe and Peter Coles. +1 for Blair Major, Doug Cullen, Rob Boocock, Gary Baird, Tony Seavill, John Chapman and Barry Hickling. All square for Baxter Fagan and Roger Menzies. Finally on the prize list with -1 was Richard Shearer. Top Dogs John Chapman and John Jacobs took home a frozen chicken each for winning against Eddie Hawke and Gary Baird. Nearest the Pin on 17 was Phil Woodward and 2nd shot on 12 was Dennis Tito. Bottle’O vouchers went to Tony Seavill and Murray Stanley. Best Gross — Bob Burns on 79 and Les Wraight on 81; Junior Gross to Terry Brighouse with 97.
