The first outing for 2019 was a Net Medal round on Tauhara enjoyed by 28 Vet Golfers on Wednesday, January 2. A trial of competing in three divisions based on handicap saw the event record some impressive scores. Division 1 (0-20) with 12 starters was won by Peter Coles with a nett 67. Runner-up also with 67 was Dave Nixon. Nett 68 for Jock Prescott and Pukekohe visitor Bruce Finlay. Warwick Prosser on his own with 69, Les Wraight nett 70 (gross 82), Graham Woodcock nett 71. Bob Burns nett 72 and a gross of 77. Division 2 (21-28) had seven starters and was won by Rex Mathieson with a nett 64 (gross of 90), runner-up Richard Brooker with nett 65 and also a gross of 90. Gary Baird and Doug Cullen made 67, Martin Bull 68 and Terry Brighouse 70. Division 3 (29+) with nine starters was won by Vic Stone with a nett 59 (best gross of 89). Runner-up Barry Hickling with 65 and 68 were Malcolm Munro and Gilbert Dean. Nett 70 for Mike Corkin and on nett 72 Colin Crowe and Rob Boocock.
