Planting brings in more helpers

- Toby Bowler

Two thousand plants found new homes at Spa Park last Sunday.

Kids Greening Taupo¯ held a student-organised planting day and an estimated 60 people came and planted lots of native plants.

Kensie Gard, the chair of the Kids Greening Taupo¯ student leadership team said the planting day turned out really well and all the rain would really benefit the plants.

“Despite the rain we had an amazing number of people turn up.”

Carol Lamb of Tidy Taupo¯ was there too to lend a hand.

“Great turn out, nice to see lots of young children helping and planting. I would really love to come to more planting days like this,” Carol said.

After the planting was done there was free hot soup, coffee and sausages.

■ The next Greening Taupo¯ planting day will be on Sunday, August 25, at Wairakei Drive, Taupo¯.
