Taupo¯ summer festival promises fun-filled day out
The Interislander Summer Festival is a must-do family event this summer and it’s returning to Taupo¯ on December 30 promising a fun-filled day out for a group of friends or the whole family.
Racegoers can cheer on their favourite racehorse or relax in the sun with a picnic.
The 2020 festival season has 30 races taking place across New Zealand, from Whanga¯ rei Racing Club in Northland to Otago Racing Club in the south, with a few new additions to the festival circuit including Ka¯ piti Coast Harness Racing Club in the Manawatu¯ and Taranaki Racing in New Plymouth.
Taupo¯ Racing Club president Terry Campbell says the Interislander Summer Festival has become a not-to-be-missed event on the Taupo¯ summer calendar.
“Taupo¯ locals look forward to the Interislander Summer Festival year after year, and holidaymakers always enjoy the classic summer event. Loading up the car with a picnic for the family and making a day out of the races has become a bit of a tradition around here.”
The day will be filled with activities, including the More FM
Kids Go Racing Area, tug of war and sack races for the children. Live music will create an upbeat atmosphere between races, and local food will be onsite to tease the taste buds. The festival offers a day of affordable entertainment with free entry for children under 18 and adult tickets from $5.
