Purdie’s team wins

The annual cycle challenge restricted access and activities at the Harcourts Taupo¯ Bowling Club last weekend with club play confined to the weekly competitio­n on Thursday.

Club captain Darrell Purdie skipped his team of Ray Spencer and Grahame Velvin to success amassing 24 points from two win to secure the first prize.

Jan Hopkins/Peter Rossall and Bill Thomson were second prize winners securing a win and a loss for 25 points. Third prize as the best of the non-winners were Brian Rohloff/Heather McCallum and Edith Hewitt netting 11 points.

Liz Witton/Davis Beck and Vivienne Hutchinson won the drawn prize.

Play this weekend features the Bay of Plenty Centre men’s and women’s pairs with several Taupo teams competing in matches outside Taupo.

Earlier this week a large field is expected to contest the Grandparen­ts and sixtyplus progressiv­e tournament on the Harcourts Taupo greens sponsored by popular members Marie and Colin Buchanan.

The club championsh­ip pairs for men and women conclude on Saturday, December 14 for the qualifying teams.
