THUMBS UP & DOWN

-

■ Thumbs up for Anytime Fitness. The staff and management do such an incredible job. The facilities are constantly super clean and tidy, staff are always happy to lend a hand and show you how to do workouts properly and safely and the management take the time to know all members' names and meet and greet. Really glad to have these guys come into our town! Keep it up!

■ Thumbs up to the manager of Number One Shoes. How nice to be greeted with a smile and a cheerful “good morning” to customers. Thank you for the replacement of my faulty work boots, will be back to shop again.

■ Thumbs up to the amazing person that handed my handbag in to Pak'n Save checkouts after I accidently left in the trolley. I am forever grateful!

■ Thumbs up to the small group of keen people who attended the interest meeting about re-starting a community garden in Nukuhau. Watch out for news of a further meeting at the end of July.

■ Thumbs up to Didymo Dave for his help with the trollies for Cameron.

■ Thumbs up to the lovely young man standing behind an elderly lady at the Warehouse checkout last week. When he noticed her purchase of a large bag of potting mix he did not hesitate to offer assistance carrying it to her car and loading it in. Jordan Solomon, you are kindness personified and your koro who we know and whānau should be so proud of you. This older lady is incredibly grateful. Thank you so much.

■ Thumbs down to the council for stopping squad swimming for our kids. What a complete joke saying "it's not viable". You've clearly not considered anything here whatsoever or thought of all the kids that have now been left in the lurch! Clearly none of your kids are in squad and besides the point look where we live... yep, right next to Lake Taupō !

■ Thumbs down to all the dog owners/walkers that exercise their dogs along Rickit St and don't pick up after them. The dog crap on the roadside parking area outside Taupō Community Playgroup is disgusting with mums, dads, caregivers and children having to navigate piles daily! Don't be so lazy!

■ Thumbs down to the person who delivers our Taupō and Tūrangi Weekender and leaves it sticking out of our mailbox. As it was raining last week, our newspaper became unreadable because it was so wet.

■ Thumbs down, here we go again. Traffic back on the roads and accidents and near accidents at Napier Rd/Kiddle Drive intersection. When will the powers that be sort this out? Please!

■ Thumbs up and many thanks to the young lady who kindly carried a double blanket into wash and dry at Spa Rd Laundry for me from my car last Friday as I have a disability. She also offered to carry it out for me. You are a bonus to the business, great service. I wish you blessings each and every day.

■ Thumbs down to the cancellation of

Taupō -nui-a-Tia College's annual ball. When we look back at our memories as adults one thing that stands out is my school ball. Schools play a huge part of creating memories for our children to look back on.
