THUMBS UP & DOWN

-

■ Thumbs up to the ladies who are directing traffic through the construction areas along Acacia Bay Rd. Your smiles, waves, and friendly attitude are very much appreciated!

■ Thumbs up to Blair from Mitre 10 garden centre for helping me with a honey pot plant container. It was much appreciated — power to the bees!

■ Thumbs up to the lady with a small black car picking up rubbish opposite Mitre 10. Your time and effort are much appreciated, Taupo¯ needs more people like you.

■ Thumbs up to the lovely young ladies who have been on traffic management duties on the Acacia Bay straight for some weeks now. No matter the weather, the time of day, the impatience of those in line, these young women make the process bearable. They are never without a smile or a wave. It has not gone unnoticed in the community and we believe they should be the blueprint for all traffic management training across the country. Thank you ladies!

■ Thumbs up to the Tree Fellas team for the quick and tidy removal of a dead old tree. Great job, I can thoroughly recommend them.

■ Thumbs up to The Warehouse for donating a cross trainer for the fundraising supporting our young gymnasts going to the national gymnastics competition in Auckland next month.

■ Thumbs up to the Mt Tauhara trappers. Top marks, whoever you are. The bird life up there is wonderful.

■ Thumbs up to all realtors as my husband and I didn’t realise the effort, support and time that goes into listing and selling homes. But a massive shout out to our realtors at Mike Pero Real Estate — all of their team has been sensational throughout the entire process. Our house is currently on the market and not a day goes by without an update or a friendly check-in. We are so appreciative of their help and their care for us and our property. Thank you so much for everything you do and are doing for our family!

■ Thumbs up to the ever-smiling and happy stop go girls and guys on Acacia Bay straight and Mapara Rd. You are out there in all sorts of weather, keeping us safe and make my day with your smiles, waves and moves! Thank you for bringing some happiness into our lives!

■ Thumbs up to three companies who have worked at our property recently — Starco, McBeth Plumbing and Gas and also Blinds 2000. Very good end product in all cases and very good service from them all.

■ Thumbs up to Georgie, Janaya, and Kerryn, the three beautiful young ladies on traffic control on Acacia Bay straight. They are always so cheerful, always a wave and a smile in what must sometimes be very trying circumstances. They certainly make my day.

■ Thumbs up to Jaki at printing. com in Tamamutu St. She is so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for her. She is excellent at problem solving always with a cheery smile and provides great service.

■ Thumbs up to Red from Lake First Aid, for running such a comprehensive and fun, yet time efficient workplace safety first aid course. It meant it was easy for everyone to stay engaged and really learn the skills. We will definitely be putting all our guys through as they need them. Thanks.

■ Thumbs up to the editor Laurilee. Great advice for drivers, well done.

■ Thumbs down to reserving bar stools and bar leaners for bookings.

■ Thumbs down again to the high price of petrol in Taupo¯ . Last weekend in Rotorua the petrol was 31 cents cheaper (same flavour/ company). Does it really cost this much to transport fuel to Taupo¯ ?

■ Thumbs down to the local group run by people who are bullying, catty and false towards other members.

■ Do you have a bouquet or a brickbat? Email your thumbs up/ thumbs down to us at news@taupoweekender.co.nz, message Taupo Weekender on Facebook or drop them into our office in Waipapa House, Paora Hapi St, Taupo¯ .
