Chiefs return for winter concert

-

Grab a warm coat or rug and head to the coolest little gig of the winter.

Whakaipo Lodge’s popular fundraising winter concert returns this weekend with its popular regulars Too Many Chiefs.

Too Many Chiefs comprises singersongwriters Andrew London, Laura Collins, Rob Joass and Wayne Mason.

These “Chiefs”, all of whom lead their own bands, met for a coffee one fateful day in 2012, and conspired to form a collaboration in which they would perform each other’s songs together without their usual “Indians”.

Laura leads the Back Porch Blues Band, Wayne the Fallen Angels, Andrew the Andrew London Trio & Cattlestops and Rob the Shot Band and Hobnail.

Along with the entertainment, the concert is also a fundraiser for Taupo¯’s Greenlea rescue helicopter.

Covered seating is provided.
