THUMBS UP & DOWN

-

■ Thumbs up and my sincere thank you to Sam and his children who stopped to help me on Sunday June 20 after a fall, also to the other gentleman who stopped. Taupo¯ sure has awesome people who do care. Many thanks also to St John Ambulance and Taupo¯ Hospital for seeing to me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

■ Thumbs up to the smartlyplanted roundabouts in town.

■ Thumbs up to Alison, Cass and all the Alpha group, and for a brilliant camp at Mission Bay, absolutely outstanding.

■ Thumbs up to MiCamp Mission Bay and the chefs and staff who prepared and provided all our food for our camp. Thank you so much.

■ Thumbs up to Graeme at Bunnings Taupo¯ for going well beyond good service on Monday June 21. He was able to solve my problem efficiently, his efforts are greatly appreciated!

■ Thumbs up to the kind young man in the Suzuki who stopped to see if I was okay one Saturday afternoon a few weeks back when my electric wheelchair had run out of battery, leaving me stranded on the corner of Mere Rd and Tui St. He stayed to help and waited with me until the taxi came to pick me up. It's not often young men stop and help an old lady and I really appreciated it.

■ Thumbs up to Jess and the team at Carters Tyres that provided such excellent service on our car recently. Keep it up.

■ Thumbs up to the Taupo¯ District Council for introducing the living wage (presently $22.75) for its employees from July 1.

■ Thumbs up to the Roberts St Action Group for challenging the council's transformation plans.

■ Thumbs down to the person who runs in the dark on Poihipi Rd in the early mornings. Please put some reflection gear on at least or you're going get hit by a car. It's very hard to see you.

■ Thumbs down to the car park at Kinloch nearest the water's edge, it's a disgrace.

■ Thumbs down to the drivers observed leaving their doors open while making deliveries. No wonder items go missing.
