THUMBS UP & DOWN
THUMBS UP
■ To the lovely lady that brought us scones and bikkies for our staff smoko, after we came to rescue on Oruanui. Very thoughtful.
■ To the staff at Mitre10 Taupō who found my precious ring after it fell off my little finger while looking at plants. I asked them to keep any eye out for it and was so delighted when they phoned a week later to say they had found it. Thanks so much.
■ To the roundabout at Tongariro and Teheuheu which works far better than the old traffic lights. Roundabouts should be the first option.
Quicker, safer, cheaper and drivers prefer them.
■ To Taupō District Council staff for the prompt construction of a pedestrian entranceway to the Brentwood Gully. Very quick response which is much appreciated.
THUMBS DOWN
■ To the planting of flaxes on the beach near the pump station at Rainbow Point. In summer this is a popular place for a families to swim and picnic and now there will be no space for this.
■ To those people who can't be bothered researching or listening to medical experts who say that you don't have enough virus on your breath to pass it on, if you don't have symptoms. Stay home if you do. D'oh.
■ Thumbs down to whoever decided to plant those horrible native grasses down our Main Street. Did you get them at bargain prices! Most unimaginative!
■ To the driver seen turning right from SH1 into the wrong side of the Napier/Taupo Road. You then drove a short distance before veering over to the left (correct), side of the road. Fortunately for you and your passenger, there was no vehicle coming down the hill, approaching the SH1 intersection. You both would've been toast.
