MĀ ORI WORD
The Taupō & Tūrangi Herald supports Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori, the Māori Language Commission's campaign to increase New Zealanders' te reo Māori vocabulary by running a different Māori word to learn each week.
This week's word: iwa nine
E iwa ngā hoihō e oma atu ana. There are nine horses running away. Ko tēnei te hui tuaiwa ki konei. This is the ninth meeting here. Tokoiwa ngā tāngata i taua hui. There were nine people at that (aforementioned) meeting.
