Your Wedding Style

Your wedding style is that important link that ties all elements of your day together. Having a defined ‘look and feel’ will allow you to create a consistent and cohesive setting, making your day unique to you.

Eventrent have been involved in hundreds of weddings and have some top tips to help you create your own wedding style.

1. Choose your venue first!

The venue you decide upon will hugely influence the look and feel of your setting. Therefore, make sure you choose your venue first, and work on your style next! If you are planning to have a marquee wedding – great, as this provides a blank canvas. Eventrent offer Stretch Tents and Hampton marquees, both providing modern and stylish cover to work within.

2. Google for inspiration but know when to stop!

The internet offers an endless supply of wedding inspiration and stunning images. It’s a great place to start, to work out what you do and don’t like. However, once you have decided on your style and gathered your ideas - stop searching! The endless images will confuse you, and make you question your décor plans. There are unlimited ways to dress your wedding, and you can’t do them all! Stick with what grabbed your attention first and remain true to yourself.

3. Don’t be a trend follower!

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event; a day that you will look back on for the rest of your life. Trends come and go, so it is important to choose a style and setting that YOU love and will still love in years to come. Don’t be tempted to use what is trending right now.

3. Create an inspiration board.

Compile images from the internet and magazines, including colours, flowers and all details…. remembering that your wedding style is not capped at the table centrepieces! Add to your design board as you research and continue to review it…eventually narrowing it down to those ideas which you love, and hopefully you will see a connection between things. Use this as the basis for your wedding style and refer to it often.

4. Decide on your colour scheme first.

It helps to know what colours you are using before pulling your style together. Keep your palette to no more than 4 colours, in shades that work well together. To get started, you might choose your favourite colour or the colour of your bridesmaids dresses, and you can build on your palette from here. Or you might take inspiration from the season (orange and red for Autumn, pastels for Summer), or the location of your wedding venue (think aqua for seaside, naturals for a rural setting).

5. Don’t confuse your style and be consistent.

Too often I see busy, confusing settings, which have incorporated too many different elements. Stick to the golden rule – less is more! Have a clear understanding of what your style is going to look like, be it vintage, rustic, glamourous or romantic, and make sure you consistently carry this through all parts of your day. Keep the end result in mind with everything you do, and you will build a beautiful setting for you and your guests to enjoy.

Eventrent offer a modern range of marquees, furniture, linen, centrepieces, props and décor – all easily available to hire to help you create the perfect setting. Plus, they offer advice and ideas to ensure all elements of your wedding tie in with each other, to ensure your wedding is the talk of the town.
