This 218 sqm home has been built virtually on the shore of Lake Taupō. The project was all about easing this house into its very special environment.

The single-level house has a stylish exterior of oiled vertical cedar and plaster, which does not detract from its remarkable setting. A protected deck linked between the twin pavilions is a well thought out and clever design.

The interior has cedar feature walls in the entrance, living room and kitchen and provides continuity with the exterior aesthetic. Raking ceilings in the living area adds volume and twin sliders opening onto the lake-facing deck, offers spectacular views.

Two bathrooms feature tiles that echo the natural tones used elsewhere, and the main bedroom, which has a walk-in robe and ensuite, as well as raking ceilings. Twin ducted heat pumps and a gas fire make the fourbedroom residence a delight to inhabit, even during those crisp winter Taupō evenings.

Built within a six-month period, this home has a high standard of finish throughout, creating an exceptional home.

Gold Award

This award recognises and rewards new approaches to building and renovating

homes. Judges will consider the way in which the building company has incorporated sustainable principles in the home’s design, choice, and installation of materials and in the way in which it has been built.

Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award

Gold Award

This award is given to the home with a bathroom that meets the lifestyle and family needs of its owners. Judges look for the bathroom that best demonstrates obvious workmanship quality, specification and installation requirements have been met, and functionality of design and fittings.

Luxury, space, and style is what this main bedroom suite offers. Something special with an oversized L-shaped ensuite that would rival any luxury spa. Fully tiled in black and with bronzetoned tapware, the aesthetic is moody, sensual, and relaxing.

A twin vanity sits along one wall and his-and-hers rainhead showers flank a black freestanding bath.

A wonderful retreat after a long day.
