BIRD AREA WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

-

TAUPŌ DISTRICT COUNCIL is replacing water mains in the Bird Area and, so far, the project is ahead of schedule.

Infrastructure project manager Elijah May says about 2km of water mains are being replaced on Kākā, Tui and Kiwi Streets, and Pātaka Road.

“This is to replace the existing end-of-life asbestos cement pipes, with new directionally drilled 63mm polyethylene pipe,” he says.

“Nolan Drainage Contractors are doing this work for us and are well ahead of schedule. We’re aiming to be all wrapped up near the end of October or start of November, weather permitting.”
