THUMBS UP

■ Thumbs up to the two young men, and the two female police officers at the Crown Road shops who came to help our 86-yearold dad after he had a bad fall while out walking last Friday morning. He didn’t get your names but would like to thank you all and let you know he is very grateful for your kindness. You never know when a loved one might need help from a stranger, so a massive thanks from our family.

■ Thumbs up and a heartfelt

THUMBS DOWN

Thumbs down to those with off road vehicle capability who have made a quagmire at Whakaipo Bay. An absolute muddy mess where there was previously grass in a pleasant flat area adjacent to the lake. A precious taonga desecrated by a few. There are a variety of camping facilities on three sides of this area. Please team ring the DOC hotline when you notice this occurring. 0800 362 468.
