Mike Wooldridge emerged the best of the skips when ideal conditions proved more than favourable for the full green of players at the Taupō Bowling Club’s Ingham Motors-sponsored progressiv­e two-bowl triples last Sunday. Wooldridge finished unbeaten and returned 61 points to take the honours ahead of Phil Burrows with four wins/59 and Vern Hobbs 3/47.

Val Mikkelson won the prize for directors, compiling four wins and 51 points from Marlene Jordan 3/59 and Steve Lee 3/58.

Club captain Stan Hall showed his form by taking the first prize for leads 4/59. Second prize for leads was won by Mike Owens 4/58 and third went to Matt Sanford 3w/1D/60 points. Play continues throughout the week at the club with ‘ongreen’ action on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm (names in by 12.45pm) and Friday Fun days from 5pm.

The four-person Team Classic involving singles, pairs, triples and fours is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 29-30 and has attracted teams from Taupō , Hawke’s Bay, Bay of Plenty and further afield.
