WELCOME TO NZ RECYCLING WEEK. TIME TO SORT IT OUT!
DID YOU KNOW our EnviroWaste recycling contractors are sorting your recycling at the kerbside before it gets loaded onto the truck?
It’s not an easy job, especially during the busy summer months when our recycling volumes are much higher than normal as we welcome holidaymakers to the district.
Our recycling contractors struggle to deal with overfilled bins, bins contaminated with rubbish, boxes that are not broken down, and items mixed in one recycling bin. All these lead to delays to your recycling collection.
You can help by separating your recycling into three product streams, using three different bins:
1. PLASTICS (1, 2 & 5), TIN & ALUMINIUM go together in
a green recycling bin.
2. GLASS in a black glass recycling bin. Pick up a free EnviroWaste black bin from one of our Customer Service Centres.
3. CARDBOARD & PAPER together in a cardboard box or second green recycling bin. Flatten cardboard boxes down to the size of a banana box or smaller.
17 to 23 October is NZ Recycling Week, so we’re celebrating by launching a recycling campaign! Keep an eye out for SORT IT OUT content across our channels. We’ll share loads of recycling tips and tricks that will challenge you to rethink your kerbside recycling habits.
