Taupō Bowling Club
Taupō and Bay of Plenty top women’s lawn bowler Wendy Green combined with another skilled local player, Jan Hopkins, to win the top prize in the club 2x4x2 pairs on the Taupō Bowling Club greens last Thursday.
The pairing scored 30 points and 13 winning ends from their two matches.
Despite the cool, windy conditions, a field of 20 kept match room organisers Val and Mark Mikkelson busy.
Vern Hobbs/Annie Judge took the second prize with two wins, 25 points and 14 winning ends from third prize winners Liz Witton/John Meleisea 2/25/10.
Top lawn bowling action features at the club’s greens on Saturday and Sunday attracting teams from as far away as Hawke’s Bay, Bay of Plenty and Waikato, as well as local combinations. They contest two days of action in the sponsored Open four-person Classic including singles, pairs, triples and fours.
