Veteran women’s golf

Thirty-eight players were treated to calm weather which helped bring about some wonderful scores. A teams event was played with the best three stableford points of the four counting on each hole. With a total of 133, Sweet Peas Sharon Bertram, Adele Keene, Beryl Paterson and Colleen Wade prevailed, followed by Dawn Breakers with 131, comprised of Tracy Hansard, Barbara Brunner, Liz Campbell and Dawn Godinagh. Third, with 130, was the Green Queens — Cheryl Hughes, Judy Nairn, Sally Mansell and Sheryl Painter.

The above players had the pleasure of choosing vouchers from generous sponsors — Domino’s Pizza, Property Pampering and Maintenance, Cafe´ Baku/Vine Eatery, Farmers Discount Meats, Starlight Cinema, Roots Waffle Cafe´ and Sorrento Italian Dining and Pizzas. Closest to the Pins were Marlene Nitschke on the 16th hole and Yvonne Raureti-Carson on the 17th. Sally Parker succeeded with the longest putt, winning the Tremains Real Estate red towel.

The Liquorland “bubbles” for the Mystery Hole was collected by Gwen Wraight, the players’ card draw was won by both Anne Shearer and Jill Lloyd.

High scores of the day were amazing. Heading the field was Cheryl Hughes with a whopping 46, then Liz Campbell 44, Adele Keene 43, Beryl Paterson 42, Sheryl Painter and Marlene Nitschke both 41 and Lynne Bowden 40. Very exciting, thrilling and pleasing for these players.
