Musical faces horror of slow ticket sales
Call to support young performers on stage
There is nothing more terrifying for a small local theatre group than the prospect of not breaking even.
The shock and horror of this scenario is not enough to put ACT2 off its next production though and it hopes
Carrie the Musical will pull through at the last minute, thanks to the support of Taupō people.
Carrie is a musical with a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and music by Michael Gore.
It is adapted from Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie and focuses on an awkward teenage girl with telekinetic powers whose lonely life is dominated by an oppressive religious fanatic mother.
Act2 Visual and Performing Arts
School artistic director Toni Neve says ticket sales are low and they run the risk of not breaking even.
“So please grab your tickets if you intend on watching Carrie the Musical.
“ACT2 Performing Arts School has decided to go ahead and stage this production as our students have worked too hard to cancel but we need your support.
“It is not scary or jumpy like the movie, just an intense musical about a teenager and her struggles both at home and at school.
“Thank you for your continued support.”
