Call for support to keep project for families alive

-

A Taupō project called Bundles of Joy is hoping for some goodwill from businesses in the area to help it keep spreading the cheer around.

Run by Soroptimist International Taupo, the project brings together other services to work collaboratively in support of vulnerable families.

Anna Delaney from Soroptimist said the project aims to alleviate stress by providing for newborns and their mothers at a time of rising costs and increased poverty.

The bundles contain nappies, wipes, muslin wraps and washers, baby products, knitting and an educational book, all presented in a baby bath. They are valued at $150 each.

Six Bundles of Joy were presented to The Hub, with Ellie Godwin from Pregnancy Help Taupo receiving them on its behalf.

Delaney thanked Taupō Warehouse and its Here for Good scheme for the donation of some products.

“We are looking for local businesses to sponsor a Bundle of Joy or part of one.”

Those involved want to make it an ongoing project within the Taupō area. “A community that cares helps to reduce the feelings of isolation and supports mental wellness.”
