Can I manage to build a pizza oven?

They say girls can do anything... but I

have to say I am having a few doubts about my next building venture. I have only ever attempted the small things like seed raising boxes, refurbishing a few pieces of furniture, and repairing the leg on my outside table. I gave a Build Yourself a Barbecue book to one of my sons, but he seems to have ignored that hint or else he is sporting a rather nice-looking pizza oven.

What I really want to tackle next is building a pizza oven. I have the space ready in my courtyard after giving my large barbecue away to a work colleague. Now, that was two years ago and there has been no progress with the building of the pizza oven, but I am sure that this is going to be the summer of the great

reveal. Build or buy? Gas or wood?

Ok, ok, ok… it starts to get a bit confusing here, I prefer a wood fired oven, as once up to temperature, a pizza can be cooked in record time with a wonderful crispy bottom and smoky taste. But some people may like a gas fired pizza oven; it just boils down to personal choice.

I have thought I could buy a book on building a pizza oven, get the materials, invite a bunch of friends around and then have a pizza building party... No? I have You Tubed, scanned the internet and taken books out of the library for ideas, but it all gets rather too much for me.

The decision I have come up with is, I am going to keep my eye out for any hands-on classes for building pizza ovens and I am going to ask around and try and find anyone who has been brave enough to build one themselves... if all else fails then I can always fall back on a kitset. Whatever the decision, this summer must be the reveal of the Great

Apart from cooking pizzas, a leg of lamb and roast vegetables is a great choice to cook in your pizza oven and I reckon cooking a steamed pudding would be a fun dessert to try out as well... good luck everyone!
