SUMMER STUDENT ROLES COMING UP AT TAUPŌ DISTRICT COUNCIL
WE ARE ON the hunt for high school and tertiary students who call the Taupō District home to fill some vacancies at council this summer.
Why take a summer student job at Taupō District Council? Here’s what some of last year’s students had to say about the experience:
Jaundre Pienaar - Engineering student
• “You learn so much just from being around the people in an organisation like this. I say try it as soon as possible to get the experience, don’t wait until after uni.”
“I’ve definitely learned a lot so far. I’ve been picking up the lingo, learning about how it works in business.”
“It’s interesting seeing how infrastructure facilities work, how they’re designed, and meeting the people that work there.”
Sam Stretton - Occupational therapy student
• “The timing of these jobs has been absolutely perfect for being a student.”
• “This role is a little bit different from what I hope to be doing after uni, but the customer service skills will be useful later.” “I’d tell other students to make the most of working here – everyone’s lovely so just get stuck in and help out.”
Grace Mitchell - Environmental science and conservation student
• “I’m learning a lot from my studies, but I’m learning way more in the workplace.”
• “I’m learning from people, from doing. I get way more out of this than I do from articles and textbooks.”
• “I’m really enjoying doing something different every day. It’s always really exciting, I get to experience the indoor and outdoor environment.”
Applications are open for summer student roles now. If you’re interested, go to www.taupo.govt.nz/careers.
