THUMBS UP & DOWN

-

Thumbs up

■ Thumbs up to Donny at the Swingers putt-putt on the landing. For a young fellow, he was pretty impressive with his helpfulness. He must be a great employee, with a huge amount of potential.

■ Thumbs up to Greg of Topstop Plastering Ltd in Taupō. He has done some excellent work in our house over the past week and has been very pleasant to deal with and very reliable. I would definitely recommend him and his work quality, which is excellent.

■ Thumbs up to responsible dog owners who keep their dogs secured at home and on a lead when out for a walk. There seem to be so many escaping dogs at the moment, but it’s important to remember that lots of people are getting it right.

■ Thumbs up to the organisers of the teddy bears’ picnic in Taupō last weekend. Such a great event for the little ones, who all had lots of fun. It clearly took a lot of organising and it was awesome to see such a good turnout. Hopefully it’ll be back next year!

Thumbs down

■ Thumbs down to drivers parking inconsiderately when visiting clubs and businesses, blocking access and visibility for residents trying to leave their driveways. They make it difficult to see oncoming traffic.

■ Thumbs down to the people who cut the fence at Five Mile Bay so that they can drive on the walking/cycling path along the lake edge.

■ Thumbs down to those who feel the need to throw their rubbish from car windows. I’ve walked past too many roadsides covered in litter recently, even though we have amazing local volunteers who pick up litter, it’s not enough to stop all of the fast-food containers, drinks cans and bottles piling up in our beautiful country. Be a tidy Kiwi!
