Paintings, stone carving for Fling

-

Paintings, prints and stone carvings come together for the annual Spring Fling Art Festival in Ka¯ whia this weekend.

The joint exhibition, hosted by the Ka¯ whia Art Group, is in its 11th year.

About 30 artists will display their work in the community hall on Jervois St.

Throughout the weekend rock carvers will be demonstrating their work on the domain.

A memorial display will be held in the hall for the founder of the stone carving group, the late Lou Sherman.

This year’s fundraiser is the sale of artist-made cushions for $50, with money raised going back into the Ka¯ whia community.

During the weekend the group is running two activities for children in the community hall.

On Saturday from 11am to 1pm there is a stone painting activity and on Sunday at the same time there will be badgemaking.

Materials and help will be provided.

The Spring Fling Art Festival is running on Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm, and Monday 9am to midday.
