Amazing talents

- HAZEL BARNES

This year’s concert by Gaylene Foster’s School of Dance was again spectacular.

The amazing talent all of the dancers carried off the meaning of their dance with great talent. The costumes were outstanding making the dancers fit their role.

The Magical Garden was delightful with the very young preliminary dancers dressed as flowers, butterflies, ladybirds, sunflowers, fairies, bees, and even some frogs amongst many other animals and birds.

Classic Guys and Gals section was outstanding with the guest dancers Highland Melody group performing the highland fling, Irish jigs, the sailors hornpipe all to the tune of bagpipes.

There was the Frank Sinatra backed hip hop, Greased Lightning jazz, the Amazing Grace ballet, Singing in the Rain and many other classics that brought the house down.

Putting on the Glitz featured the Sugar Plum Fairy danced by the senior ballet dancers which was very beautiful. Fire , by the intermediate contemporary dancers set us alight for the following hip hop, tap dancing and jazz.

The adult dancers were amazing with their adult tap and then their masquerade ball and the show finished with the senior ballet cleverly performing to Mistake Waltz .

Te Awamutu has very good reason to be very proud of these many dancers both female and male. All fit, healthy and happy and enjoying performing. for a packed out audience .

Thank you again Gaylene Foster and your team for making it possible for us to enjoy such an amazing energetic concert.
