Te Awamutu’s Blue team has come out convincing winners of this year’s Waikato Junior Interclub Tennis C grade competition.

Te Awamutu finished unbeaten, downing Beerescourt Belles 6-0, Te Awamutu Green 4-2, Lugton Park 5-1, Tatuanui 6-2 and Beerescourt Backspins 6-0.

All the team were firstyear competitors at this level, having previously played in either the Melville Cup or Racqueteers competitions run by the Te Awamutu Tennis Sub Association.

Te Awamutu club captain Warren Beck said he was very proud of the players fronting up each week and battling hard to get the wins.

Team manager Trena Parker said she was proud that every member of the six-strong team easily made the transition up to the Waikato junior C grade. The oldest member of the team, Ollie Storey (14) said the competition had been a good experience to start playing competitively.

The competitors played the best of three sets for both singles and doubles.
