Jake Gibson enhanced his reputation as an allrounder with a bright future scoring a century off only 47 balls for Waikato Valley against Poverty Bay at the Brian Dunning Northern Districts T20 tournament in Taupo¯ .

Gibson retired hurt with a torn quad in his right leg when on 107 off 49 balls helping Waikato Valley to 172 off their allotted 20 overs. Waikato Valley had earlier beaten Northland and Counties and lost to Hamilton.

Bay of Plenty won the tournament with five wins from five matches.
