WHITE ON BLACK
Limted Black Edition Holden Astra RS
Holden is adding value and visual appeal to its mid-grade Astra RS hatchback with the introduction of a limited production ‘Black Edition’.
The Astra RS Black Edition boasts a sharpened exterior look thanks to the addition of a black roof, black finish 17-inch alloy wheels, black mirror scalps, a black grille and a black headliner on the inside of the vehicle.
The look is completed by darkened privacy glass and with a Black Edition badge and decals along each side of the vehicle.
The Black Edition is available in three colours — Nitrate, Absolute Red and Summit White — from authorised Holden dealers priced at $27,990 (plus onroad costs), which is the same price as a standard Astra RS.
Driven got behind the wheel of the ‘White on Black’ version from Rosetown Holden.
The RS grade fits into the Astra line-up between the entry level R model and flagship RS-V.
It’s powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 147kW of power and 300Nm of torque.
All Astra Black Edition cars have the six-speed automatic transmission.
“Astra is a real driver’s car,” said Holden New Zealand national marketing manager Marc Warr.
“It offers unparalleled levels of performance, comfort and refinement and aesthetic enhancements now differentiate the new Black Edition from the standard Astra RS.”
As with all Astra RS models, the Black Edition comes standard with the latest generation MyLink infotainment system featuring class-leading Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, interfaced via a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen.
Standard fitment safety features include six airbags, a rearview camera and active safety aids such as Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert plus Electronic Stability Control, all of which contributes to a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
All new models in the Holden range have threeyears free scheduled servicing, three-years roadside assistance and a three-year new car warranty.
