Bill Fox found Pirongia Golf Course the course to his liking, racking up 45 stableford points on Sunday.

Runner-up was visitor Joe Gascoigne with 42. In the juniors Lynda Morgan streeted the men with 44 points of her own. Runner-up was Jack Hjorth with 41.

The final of the Pitchford Trophy will be between Bill Fox/Murray Barclay and Charlie Coles/Jimmy Dunn.

Twos were shot by Doug Grantham, Scott Law, Steve Law, Kevin Appleby.

Garry Bowman sunk the longest putt, closest to the pin was Jack Hjorth.

The second round of the Men’s Match Play Championsh­ips took place over the weekend at Te Awamutu Golf Club.

In the senior division Sam Towers defeated Keenan Berge 5/3, Ben Ambler defeated Dave Seager 5/3 and Stuart Towers defeated Clinton Rowe.

Winners in the intermedia­te division were Adam Ryburn over Howard Wynyard and Derek Hill over Kelvin Trass.

In the juniors Bruce Webster beat John Hill 4/3 and in junior B Welby Murrell defeated Stuart Yarndley, Robert Coleman defeated John Tart, Barry Murtagh over Peter Emery, Toby Thomson over Robin McGhie.

Women silver division saw Gemma Towers beat Raewyn Coleman and in Bronze Toni Coleman defeated Karen Campton.

In Sunday’s scramble Ben Ambler shot two under par for the first time at Te Awamutu for a 70 off the stick.
