How to learn all about computers ‘real good'
Towhomitmayconcern; mayit be known that I am not a people person – in fact, I'm not even really a “person” person. And sometimes I'm not sure I'm a person.
Yet that's a tale for another time. There are, however, those whoenjoy working with others to achieve goals, and those are really the sort of people you should be looking forwhenyou want someone to train you – rather thanmybeady eyes examining your everymouse movement and silently judging you.
Note: this is not really true – I'm not somuch interested inmouse expertise as whether you remembered to backup your data and write downyour passwords.
SoI thought I'd list offsome organisations, people and websites that are good for those wanting to up their game, in terms of computer skill.
Nearby there's in-home trainer, Heather Wickham— catchuptraining.co.nz
But if you'd prefer off-site, there's a fewmore options:
Ace Computer Training (ace. co.nz) have courses on a variety ofcommonsoftware packages and operating systems, with skills ranging from beginner to advanced;
If you're an oldie, a good option is Seniornet (seniornet.co.nz), wholargely teach the basics of use for Windows 7 and Windows 10;
For, very specifically, MicrosoftExcel training, there's Able Owl (ableowl.com), who train beginners to experts in the ways ofMicrosoft spreadsheets;
Lastly, for those who'd rather save their money, there's free computer training available through theWintec Basic Computing program: wintec.ac. nz/study-at-wintec/courses/ information-technology/basiccomputing-(space)— Yes, that's actually a realweb address which has parentheses in it and the word 'space' in between them. I'm as bewildered as you are.
Finally, a fewonline resources for those whojust want to look stuff up for themselves:
● wikihow.com – Specific guides for a variety of activities;
stackoverflow.com – Alargely computer-centric technical resource in a specific questionand-answer format. Brutal but honest community;
snopes.com – Amyth-busting site, largely for figuring out whether or not that dubious memeyour aunty posted is true;
google.co.nz – Everything else.
Nobody is expecting you to know everything about computers, or for example, how to fix them. If you did, I'd be out of a job. And even I don't know everything. There's somuch to know. But the more you know, the better off you are.
