Mathematics for a Lifetime looks for sponsors

-

Mathematics for a Lifetime is holding its first ever sponsors’ breakfast later this month, and is also using the opportunity to attract new supporters.

Board member and relationships manager Maria Heslop says the vision is to empower our future community contributors by transforming their lives and mission to advance skills and knowledge of mathematics for Kiwis by breaking down barriers.

“We are the only charitable trust of our kind in New Zealand.”

Mathematics for a Lifetime identifies children in need of maths tutoring — either because they are behind, or extremely advanced and ideal need extending.

In both cases the children come from low income backgrounds and there is an application process and income threshold to make sure the most at risk kids are receiving help.

“The sponsorship breakfast is the first we have done to acknowledge all of our current sponsors,” says Maria.

“We have also invited potential new sponsors so we can get people on board and to educate them about what we do.

“There are tickets left for people/businesses that are interested in seeing what we are doing and potentially getting on board to help financially or in other ways.”

Guest speakers will be a recently sponsored child and grandmother with their story about what the tuition has done for them.
